Meet Eugenio
Eugenio Sol, known by his artistic name Yuyims, traces the origins of his creative journey to his upbringing in a household where design and creativity were woven into daily life. With an architect father and an interior designer mother, he was immersed in a world where empty lots transformed into homes boasting unique features, sparking his passion for architecture and design.
Drawing inspiration from the whimsical installations at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where he pursued studies in Interior Design, Eugenio's childhood home served as a nurturing environment for his creativity to flourish. His career path was motivated by a desire to channel his love for creativity into pieces that challenge perceptions and engage the senses, inviting viewers to explore the unseen beauty of design.
Nature, particularly the ocean, serves as a profound wellspring of inspiration for Eugenio. Growing up in coastal regions like Miami Florida, Puerto La Cruz Venezuela, and Arendal Norway, he developed a deep connection to the ocean's mystery and greatness. Immersed in nature, he finds solace and inspiration, fueling his creative process with a
mindset of expansive thinking.
In his artistic practice, Eugenio favors Pointillism and heavy body acrylic paint, drawn to their ability to convey intricate details and tactile richness. His artistic style has evolved, reflecting changes and growth in his personal life, yet retaining the abstract forms and shapes that define his unique perspective.
Themes of interconnectedness in the natural world and the intricacies of the human body are central to Eugenio's art. His collections, "Polka Dot Madness" and "Dotted Cells," explore these themes, inspired by personal experiences and a belief in the interconnectedness of all living things.
As Eugenio continues to evolve as an artist, he draws upon the insights and inspiration gleaned from influential figures, weaving their legacies into the fabric of his own creative expression. Through his art, Eugenio invites viewers to contemplate the beauty and complexity of life, sparking conversations and connections that transcend the boundaries of art.
